Match Report |
Just a brief summary of this week’s match away to Burton Joyce Blue, a team who we had a great game with only a few week ago at Bispham, so we knew them pretty well. We tried working on a few ideas in the Wednesday nights training session to get past their good defence. No coach Sweetin this week as he was away celebrating the big 4 “O”, so thanks to Ben for stepping in to help out. He’ll also be helping out for next week’s match. The match itself was a pretty close affair with bags of chances at both ends, we must have hit the post & cross bar at least 4 times, but we also rode our luck a couple of times when Burton Joyce were on the attack. After going 1 goal down in the first 10 minutes, we battled well and calved out numerous chances & there wasn’t really much between the two teams. It wasn’t until the last few minutes of the match Burton Joyce scored from a well worked corner, so credit to them. We should consider ourselves very unlucky not to have come away with anything from the game, but that’s how it goes sometimes. A lot of effort and commitment from the whole team, and on another day it could have been a whole different story. Man of the Match this week goes to Emin. Bags of energy & skill from a player who is a great box to box player, always willing to come back to help defend and can create goal scoring opportunities both for himself & his fellow teammates. |
