Match Report | A spirited fight back from the team away at West Bridgford Red 4, but ultimately we didn’t come away with the result the performance deserved. A change in tactics was required for this match, with two substitute changes every 5 minutes, rather than a complete change of the team every 10. A starting line up with Nathan taking the keepers jersey, Alex at the back, Emin & Coby in Midfield, with Gazza up front. West bridgford started on the front foot & before we knew it we had conceded 3 goals. We struggled to cope with their pace & movement off the ball, so a rethink was required. Dan came on in midfield & he had an immediate impact, scoring two quick fire goals, running from a deep midfield position & shrugging of challenges, finishing with powerful shots high into the roof of the net, leaving the keeper with no chance. Mikey had replaced Nathan in goal for the second half, Nathan moved into defence & with regular changes, the game seemed to have more of a flow to it. As we started to get more physical, we were winning 50/50’s in the middle of the park. We created several more chances before West Bridgford scored a fourth. But we kept pushing & we didn’t let our heads drop. Some fine interplay between Coby & Gazza set Dan up for his hat trick goal. We were back in the game & our tails we up but again West Bridgford were just that bit quicker & scored again. In the final 5 minutes Gazza moved up front from a midfield position leaving Eddie to come on & make an impact, scoring the final goal of the match. The whole team put in a shift against an opposition who played with a high tempo & apart from the first 10 minutes, matched them in every area of the pitch. Dan took the Man of the Match trophy for his battling qualities & hat trick heroics! |
