Derby day as Toton faced Trowel FC, so far matches between each of the teams have always been close.

Toton kicks off wearing the new kit sponsored by Andy Hallam of Fred Hallam’s Ltd don’t forget to visit their shop in Beeston!

Both teams started cautiously with Tornados passing very well, 9/10 minutes into the game and we had our first and second shot on goal from Erick only to be saved by the goalkeeper.

Moments later Oliver stuck just wide and I started to think it would be one of those days, lots of shots and no reward!

Both teams continued to cancel each other out as the first half loomed, 4 minutes until half time and Trowel managed to break, the shot was saved well by Michael who was goalkeeper again for the injured Makai.

Makai was able to play in attack today and had a flurry of shots in the last 3 minutes of the first half all saved by the Trowel Goalie.

Frustrated by not scoring Toton attacked in numbers for the last seconds of the half and as the attack broke down we was left exposed in defence and whilst the defender tried to clear the ball, missed which allowed the Trowel player though on goal, one to one with Michael… as good as Michael has been in goal he was unable to stop the shot in the bottom corner. 0-1 goal by Trowel. The whistle went straight after.

Second half saw Toton ready to attack Trowel from the start, several shots came one after another, Erick and Ben denied by great saves from their keeper.

The build up play had been brilliant leading up to these shots, two, three and four passes together each time. The link up play between Edward, Elliott, Erick and Oliver has been a joy to watch.

The supporting players were outstanding, Nathan making big tackles and clearing the ball, Makai running after every ball not allowing Trowel to settle.

Michael running from his goal line on numerous occasions to gather the ball.

Ben and Alex chasing and shooting every opportunity they had.

37 minutes passed, I was thinking the same thing as earlier one of those days…..

Then a great though ball by Elliott into the path of Alex… bang…. Goal!!! Great strike by Alex to equalize 1-1 37 mins

Great save by Michael a minute later. We attacked again, 3 consecutive shots by Erick all saved by the goalie, the third spilled out to Oliver… goal Oliver tapped in his 5th league goal of the season. 2-1 46 minutes.

In the 50th minute Makai ran down the right wing and shot... goal 3-1 to Toton

Straight from the kick off Toton won the ball back, Edward beat his player and played an excellent through ball in to the path of the on running Erick and he slotted the ball into the back of the net. Goal 4-1

Then in the last remaining seconds of the match Elliott ran down the middle and managed to score against his old team... Goal 5-1.

A great team performance, great passing and a great captains performance by Elliott which earned him Man of the Match.
