U18s White Vs Radcliffe Olympic Red U10

1st game of the new season and it threw it down with rain for the entire match!

However we got off to a great start vs Radcliffe Olympic Red, with a great cross from the left Erick found Alex unmarked after losing his defender to score from inside the 6 yard box 1-0! (2 minutes) You could hear the cheers from the VIP tea shack sheltering the supporters from the down pour. However whilst enjoying this moment and feelings of confidence Radcliffe equalised in the very next minute 1-1 (3 minutes).

The confidence had gone altogether as Radcliffe attacked in numbers for a good few minutes, with Mikey and Makai making a great tackle and save respectively, Radcliffe won a corner in the 10th  minute, which we failed to clear and conceded the 2nd goal, 1-2 (10 minutes).

We made some changes to the midfield and started to see some attacking play with Erick, Oliver and Nathan having a few shots.

Then in a moment of excitement we conceded a penalty by pushing their striker to the floor inside our box. Radcliffe scored the penalty hitting hard and low passed Makai diving right hand. 1-3 (20th minute)

At Half Time it was time for a chat with the players to motivate them back into how we have been playing in pervious weeks.

With their motivation restored and some tactical changes we started the second half better, with good tackles coming from Coby and Edward, on the 29th minute we won a free kick just outside the area and Erick hit one thumping the cross bar, with Mikey following up and shooting against the post.

The rebound was hit out for a corner, as the corner came in Mikey hit the post again, how we didn’t close the score gap I’ll never know!

Again Makai made some good saves as we continued to push forward, then from deep inside his own half, Erick set about an excellent run taking on 3-4 of Radcliffe’s players and finding himself in their penalty, the shot came drilled hard into the upper left side of the goal. 2-3 (39th Minute)

Again a couple of minutes later, from a Radcliffe corner, we managed to slice the ball trying to clear and scored an own goal. (41st Minute) 2-4

A couple of good runs from Elliott on his debut pushed us forward, we didn’t give up knowing that we had been on the front foot and drove forward again, the last five minutes saw a flurry of shots by Toton, Alex just shooting wide of the post and in the 48th minute Ben popped up inside the six yard box, Alex crossed the ball and Ben hammered it home. 3-4 (48th Minute)

We had a couple more shots one from Edward, blocked by the defender, one just wide from Alex and with the last kick of the match, Alex hit the cross bar again. Summing up some of the bad luck we have had in the second half.

Fantastic effort from all the players in the second half and deserved something from the game.
