New FA level 2 Qualified Coach

Congratulations to Nigel Thrower on his continued commitment to improve his coaching knowledge by successfully attending and completing this demanding course and gaining "The FA Level 2 in Coaching Football". The club were pleased we were able to support Nigel and wish him all the best on his UEFA B Licence course starting in September 2017, being 1 of the 24 selected from the 110 applicants from within Nottinghamshire.
The club have 2x FA Level 2 coaches within the club and at least 1x FA level 1 with every team, this is the clubs commitment to constantly improve the learning environment in order to provide our players the best technical environment to learn football with knowledge coaches.
About The Qualification
Level 2 courses are run through County FA's at local sports facilities and schools etc. and generally consist of 75 hours of guided learning that includes theory, practical demonstrations and practice sessions for basic essential techniques such as ball control, running with the ball, passing, dribbling, turning, heading shooting and goalkeeping.
What It Covers
The practical part of the curriculum is broken down into 16 tightly targeted categories that provide coaches with the knowledge and experience to create their own coaching drills and practise sessions. Areas covered include:
- Running with the ball
- Dribbling
- Support play, forward runs
- Support play, around the ball
- Receiving priorities
- Forward passing
- Short passing
- Long passing
- Turning
- Finishing, short range
- Finishing, long range
- Heading, attacking
- Heading, defensive
- Defending when matched
- Defending to delay
- Goalkeeping
Tactical knowledge and skills are also covered with particular focus on defence and attack strategies. Theoretical tuition includes a wide range of essential topics such as the laws of the game, planning, preparation and evaluation of coaching sessions, fitness training for football and nutritional support.
